Six years ago, I penned the first sentence and embarked on crafting the script for Void Trawler – a tale centered around an underdog Anime artist grappling with the loss of his one true love and the profound impacts of AI, exploring the possibilities to stay connected with her. In short, it's a narrative where Anime, Heart, and AI collide. I invested substantial time and effort into this project, resulting in numerous revisions and script festival submissions that garnered several nominations, even for Best Short Script.
Throughout this journey, I've had the privilege of assembling a talented crew, individuals with experience ranging from major Disney and Netflix productions to popular TV shows and outstanding independent projects. To present our passion project, our team created an impressive trailer featuring original Japanese animation and an evocative score.
With only one – yet crucial – missing piece left to breathe life into the story, we reached out to the community for funding. Here's where the challenge hit us hard: crowdfunding on Kickstarter amid a sea of other filmmakers with the same goal.
Admittedly, our initial attempts stumbled, not for a lack of heart but due to a shortfall in outreach and being heard amidst the multitude of other voices. Undeterred and better prepared, we're gearing up for our final crowdfunding push on GoFundMe, fueled by the hope that this time, our collective voice will resonate louder. It's a make-or-break moment, and the question remains whether crowdfunding will finally propel this ambitious project to fruition.
